To participate you do need to know how to use a sewing machine comfortably. If you dont, then no worries, just join up for the Level 1 course. In these 6 sessions we will journey together into the wonderful world of creating your own garments. We will sew garments chosen to teach you basic construction skills like constructing simple trousers, a skirt, a sleeveless top, inseam pockets, create elastic casings, sew buttonholes, various seam finishes, gathering, learn about bias binding, using facings, create darts, use commercial patterns, grade between sizes and much more. The course can extend to 10 classess should you wish to continue with a more complex garment which includes button stands, buttonholes, gathering and an inset sleeve. You can decide to continue and pay in the difference once you are ready. Included in the course fee of R3600 is a kit of 2 printed multi sized patterns, a roll of tracing paper, tracing wheel, calico for muslins valued at R600. You will receive links to download printable pattern construction instructions. 6 classes and 1 sew along to complete unfinished projects You will be required to purchase fabrics and threads of your choice for the various projects. We will discuss these in the classroom 2 class per week will help you unleash your creative spirit one stitch at a time. Open the door into a new world of creativity and satisfaction. This is a course for hobbyists and is not a registered commercial qualification. You will however, receive a solid foundation in sewing and the use of patterns and some pattern manipulation.
