FOR BEGINNER SEWERS eg. Graduates of The BASICS course or any other absolute beginners course so long as you already know how to sew on a machine, understand grainlines and the basics like seam allowances. This workshop is one of the Beginners part 2 projects. Learn the basics of sewing with a stretchy knit fabric like single jersey Tee Shirting and Tracksuiting - they are different. I will show you how to set up your machine for stitching a stretch, what needles to use and give you some tips on cutting a knit fabric, and so much more. This workshop is more than sewing a sweatshirt, its a solid intro to beginner garment construction and sewing techniques. Patterns are for male or female bodies WHAT TO EXPECT We will work with a basic Sweatshirt pattern and create a lovely classic top that features a ribbed neck, waist and sleeves. I will show you how to choose your size from a pattern based on your body measurements. We might trace off a pattern size from a multi sized printout if needed. You may choose to sew a Hoodie instead of a sweatshirt SKILLS LEARNED 1. How to sew a 2 way stretch fabric (not a 4 way stretch like lycra) 2. How to attach ribbing 3. Please DO NOT buy a super stretchy fleece (it is a whole different beast to sew). Fabric must be a 2 way stretch as opposed to a 4 way stretch (4 way is used in leggings or super tight garments) EQUIPMENT - Fabric Scissors, pins, tape measure, tailors chalk.
