FOR BEGINNER SEWERS eg. Graduates of The BASICS course or any other absolute beginners course so long as you already know how to sew on a machine, understand grainlines and the basics like seam allowances. If you have not used a commercial pattern before PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE "LEARN TO WORK WITH A PATTERN WORKSHOP" to be held on Saturday 11 April from 10-11am, when you book Patterns are for male or female bodies WHAT TO EXPECT We will work with a basic pants pattern and create a pair of pull on pants that feature pockets, elasticated waist and a drawstring. Make them as PJ pants or funky everyday pants. SKILLS LEARNED 1. How to create an elastic waistband 2. Create a buttonhole 3. Insert inseam pockets 4. Use an overlocker and normal domestic machine. 5. 2 fold hemming 6. Thread a drawstring Its so much fun learning new skills and sewing in a group ! WE PROVIDE 1. A studio pattern for your use in the studio. This pattern is not given out but you may purchase a download after the course if you like it, or trace off a copy. 2. Overlockers and straight stitch machines 3. 8 hours of instruction and support 4. Tracing Paper WHAT TO BRING FABRIC - You will need to bring your own fabric for the project. The choice of fabric will be covered in the Introduction to Working with Patterns, which is why it is essential to attend. You will be sent an email with fabric requirements to remind you. EQUIPMENT - Fabric Scissors, pins, tape measure, tailors chalk. You may order a Starter Kit if you don't have the basic tools. COST is R1600 TIMES - 8 hour workshop over 2 Saturdays. Day 1 - 9.30 to 2pm Day 2 - 9.30am-2 pm
