FOR BEGINNER SEWERS eg. Graduates of The BASICS course or any other absolute beginners course so long as you already know how to sew on a machine, understand grainlines and the basics like seam allowances. Patterns are for male or female bodies WHAT TO EXPECT We will work with a basic pants pattern and create a pair of pull on pants that feature pockets, and an elasticated waist. Make them as PJ pants or funky everyday pants. NEW - introducing the option to create a skirt featuring inseam pockets and similar elasticated waistband as the pants SKILLS LEARNED 1. How to create an elastic waistband 2. Basic construction techniques for trousers or two panel skirt 3. Insert inseam pockets 4. Use an overlocker and normal domestic machine. 5. 2 fold hemming 6. Create a button hole Its so much fun learning new skills and sewing in a group ! WE PROVIDE 1. A studio pattern for your use in the studio. This pattern is not given out but you may purchase a download after the course if you like it, or trace off a copy. 2. Overlockers and straight stitch machines 3. 7.5 hours of instruction and support WHAT TO BRING FABRIC - You may bring your own fabric or purchase PJ flannel from the Studio for the pants. We can make suitable fabric available for purchse, for a skirt. You will receive an email or whatsapp with requirements. Please consult me before you purchase any fabric. You will receive an email and pattern details when your registration and payment is received. You could also join us for the shopping morning when I will take you to a fabric store and explain a bit about fabrics and how to choose a suitable fabric for your specific project. COST is R1425 Excl fabric, or R1550 incl fabric. TIMES - 2.5 hour workshop over 3 classes Day 1 - 9.30 -12 - cutting fabric and prepping to sew. Day 2 - 9.30-12 - Sewing Day 3 - 9.30-12 - Hemming and completing the waistband
